Rated 5 Stars (out of 5) - This product solved a long term desire in being able to copy UNC paths to items rather than the tedious (and often error prone) method of typing the path. I tested on Windows 7 x32 and Windows 7 x64 with no issues. Love the options to turn of the "short path" and put the UNC copy path on the main context menu. Great utility and excellent work!

Paths with spaces in them can cause problems for some folks and some tools. The completed (v12.0) feature of adding <...> open close angle brackets can help.

However, not only are spaces a problem, some folks use the hash/pound/number sign, and other characters, in their directory and file names which means some of the UNC paths don't work as hoped.

An option to convert special (inappropriate) characters in the path to their percent encoded values would be useful e.g. http://stackoverflow.com/a/13500078/717355
Comments: Nice idea. It could be an possible step in a custom command, for example.

Your program would be much more useful to me if, in lieu of quotes, I could surround a path with < and >. When pasted into an email or doc, the path then immediately becomes a link. Quotes don't do this.
Comments: +1 for that capability - means I can paste a link with spaces directly into outlook without having to patch it up. Thanks.

Could you please add the preview feature - for example instead of the type of the path, like "Copy Long Name", it would actually display multiple versions of the file, folder names.

For example, when we right click on a file name> Copy path > it would show entries like these and selecting will copy that entry :

\myserver\P\Users\testuser\Desktop\ARM\readme.text

Could you please add the preview feature - for example instead of "Copy Long Name", it would actually display multiple versions of the file, folder names.

For example, when we right click on a file name> Copy path > it would show entries like these and selecting will copy that entry :

Due to the empty documentation tab, I ask here: It is possible to set up keyboard shortcuts?

For example, Ctrl-Shift-C should put the UNC path of selected file into the clipboard.

Hello,

No, unfortunately, the feature you suggested has not been implemented yet. I am unsure as to when I'll be able to get around to it... and I wasn't sure exactly how I wanted to implement it.

If you can help implement it though, feel free - just fork the repository and send me a pull request and I'll review it.

As for the changelog, I include a quick changelog with each release. You can also look at the HISTORY.TXT file included in each version. For example, here's the file of the 11.0.2 release:

Great job, thanks! I was looking for code to write my own shell and ran across your project. Well done. I haven't done much C++, I'm more of a C# guy but I'll look at your code. Really, what I was attempting to do is the same concept, except a "Send as email..." option instead of copy. Just a thought, if you'd like to implement that. Again, great job. Thanks!

Yes, there is - sorry, I haven't updated the documentation in a while, so the value isn't there... See this page for how to customize the settings during installation:

Closed Feature: Support UNC path resolution for non-shared files [11372]

The menu to copy UNC file path should not be disabled if not share can be found. If no share exist for the selected file then you should fall-back on the the UNC path based on invisible drive letters: C$, D$ ....

For instance c:\Windows\System32\notepad.exe corresponds to the UNC path \\%COMPUTERNAME%\C$\Windows\System32\notepad.exe.

This would be very useful to have especially when working with multiple domain-joined machines.
