Could you please add the preview feature - for example instead of "Copy Long Name", it would actually display multiple versions of the file, folder names.

For example, when we right click on a file name> Copy path > it would show entries like these and selecting will copy that entry :

readme.text
P:\Users\testuser\Desktop\ARM\readme.text
\myserver\P\Users\testuser\Desktop\ARM\readme.text
\myserver\P\Users\testuser\Desktop\ARM

Hello,

No, unfortunately, the feature you suggested has not been implemented yet. I am unsure as to when I'll be able to get around to it... and I wasn't sure exactly how I wanted to implement it.

If you can help implement it though, feel free - just fork the repository and send me a pull request and I'll review it.

As for the changelog, I include a quick changelog with each release. You can also look at the HISTORY.TXT file included in each version. For example, here's the file of the 11.0.2 release:

Yes, there is - sorry, I haven't updated the documentation in a while, so the value isn't there... See this page for how to customize the settings during installation:

The value you're looking for is named DisableSoftwareUpdate. It's a DWORD value. Set a value of 1 to disable auto-updating. You can also push the registry setting via policy I guess. Place it in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\clechasseur\PathCopyCopy.

I'll get around to adding this in the docs as soon as possible.

A way to disable the autoupdate feature? This is more a feature request... As a network admin we don't want these messages popping up on end user machines? i.e. an install switch that disables the autoupdate feature? Or a registry setting we can push to disable autoupdate notifications?

I haven't really considered it, no. I know for a fact that building MSI-based installers with the like of WiX is immensely more complicated than Inno Setup, so that's why I went for the easiest path when I chose Inno. However, the fact is that I now have a "Network admin" doc available so perhaps an MSI installer would be sensible...

In the meantime, there are solutions to wrap EXE installers into MSI files. A little Google search should help.

I'll add a work item for this.

I was wondering if providing an MSI installer for Path Copy Copy had been considered? This would be useful for example when using Group Policy to deploy Path Copy Copy (Group Policy can only install .msi, not .exe installers).

This would mean using something other than Inno Setup as that can't build MSI. Possibly WiX http://wixtoolset.org/ or Install Sheild LE?

Following the review update, it seems to me like you had installed an old version (perhaps having been lead there by another web site?) and not the latest one (11.0.1). I'll consider this issue resolved.

This problem was reported via a review of version 2.1:

"It would be very good but I miss the setting! Of course I install version 11.0.1 as administrator (Windows 7, 64 bit) but there was no Pre-configure commands window. After installation there was no Item to open Setting. So I search in the registry for a REG_DWORD namend KeyLock to switch it from 1 to 0, but there was no! Please help, I miss Copy Long Parent Folder Path very often."

Here are a few questions:

Did you have a previous version installed? If so, which one?
Could you export the content of your SOFTWARE\clechasseur\PathCopyCopy keys (both from HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE) and send them to me? No need to post them publicly here, simply contact me directly by e-mail to send them.

very simply , like the output of command "dir /s" .

I just want to click on one (or more) folders and copy to clip all folder names and file names inside of it.

to get the folder names of the ones that I selected - your current version gives me that. but not the subfolders.

There's no feature to do this at the moment, no (if I understand correctly, what you would like is a command that, applied to a folder, would put the name of all subfiles/subfolders in the clipboard?)

If you explain what you need in more details, I can enter a work item to hopefully add it to a future version.

No problem. The behavior you describe is correct - selecting "Add quotes around copied paths" will add the quotes no matter what. To selectively add them, you need to create custom commands for those you need quotes.
